When Two Blogs Collide

Well, we had a fine time on our trip to Lewis to escape from our elder children for a while meet young Alasdair Morrison, catch up with his parents and gatecrash go along to his gran's birthday dinner.

All in all, it was a good trip - great to see everybody again and to meet wee Alasdair. We stayed at the Dacama B&B in Ullapool on the way up and at The Rowans in Stornoway. Both were very nice and Anne at The Rowans certainly serves up a hearty breakfast.

The weather wasn't great but we went for a drive and had a quick stroll in the drizzle at Luskentyre beach - we really will have to go back in the summer some time.

If you want decent photos of Alasdair, check out Alex and Fi's blog or Ian and Nikki's. If you want to see some dodgy photos taken by me, see below or click on the images to get them bigger.

Excellent photos. Looks like the trip back was rough. I would like the record to reflect that the shed I built in my mother's back garden (Alex helped) needs no tethering.

If Ian had helped me a wee bit more with the shed he might have known that the sub-base is connected to 8 large threaded bars set into some very hefty lumps of concrete and the roof is windlassed to the walls with steel wire... but he probably knows that!

Good phots, the trip up Loch Broom when there's a lot of snow around is pretty fantastic. I think the hill in the photo is probably Ben Mor Coigach, Stac Pollaidh is a wee bit farther away and is surprisingly small.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Thanks Alex - checked the maps and you're almost certainly right about the hill. Looks like it would be a fantastic walk/scramble on a clear day - you been up there at all?

Regrettably the most northerly walking I've done is up Meall a Chrasgaidh (NH 18507329) on a very wet day a few years ago. I'd love to do Ben Mor Coigach, as you supposed, a fantastic ridge walk, and Suilven of course. The whole area is great walking, I hope to do Ben Hope some day but logistically it's a challenge particularly when you live 748km away! :-(

Alex, if you ever find the time and are looking for some company, and I don't have anything else on, and don't have to be anywhere with the kids, and Vikki doesn't need me for anything else.....hmmm, it'll never happen, will it.

That would be really good, maybe one day!
