Calum....

...asleep, on the floor, in a baby's blanket and a home made "Zippy from Rainbow" fancy dress head. Enough said.

Should "Carb Loading" include ice cream?

Last night, I suggested that since it was a nice evening, we should take a walk down to Auntie Bettie's ice cream shop at the sea front for some ice cream.
I'm not sure if Runner's World recommend ice cream on the night before a run but it must have done as good as both Vikki and I managed personal bests today in the Baker Hughes Aberdeen 10K (52:46 and 54:53 respectively). I think we were both pleasantly surprised with our times, particularly after a 04:45 Magnus-induced rise this morning (although it was pointed out that most people run better in the afternoon, so our early wakening may actually have been advantageous - aye, right), and it was a good run. I think there were a number of other jogscotland PBs so well done to everyone. Meanwhile Dave Morrow was running his first marathon in Edinburgh this morning. Well done Dave, you crazy fool. See you all down at The Marine.

Congratulations II

In case you couldn't work it out from the grainy, ill-lit phone pic posted previously, Amy got married to the Daviator on Sunday at Pittodrie House Hotel.

It was the first time we'd taken the boys to a wedding and it turned out to be kinda crazy, stressful, and a lot of fun. Lachlan and Calum were page boys and Vikki was the chief bridesmaid, which meant she got a posh frock and a seat away from us at dinner (but still saved the day by calming Magnus down). After dinner, Magnus soon fell asleep and we were able to get on with the serious business of drinking and dancing. The dancing kicked off with a grand march followed by "Patio Song" by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci (we had to bring our CD in because the DJ strangely hadn't even heard of them), and finished off about midnight with the seemingly obligatory drunken staggering to The Proclaimers' "500 miles". All in all, it was a good night - Lachlan and Calum had a great time running and sliding around the dance floor, we had a chance to make some new friends catch up with some old friends and family, and it was fun just to watch Vikki's relatives get steadily drunker as time wore on.

Our photos are on Vikki's Picasa album (below)
