Happy Birthday, Magnus. Yes, he's 1 today, and it hardly seems a blink of the eye that he was merely a glint in that self same eye. I managed to get away from work early so that we would have some time for cake and pressies before Calum and I had to go off to Beavers. Vikki made the cake which was very nice - Magnus would probably still be eating it if he could.
Our present to Magnus is a bit of a sneaky one. It's this really cool little daysack for him to wear when he starts walking around. The sneaky bit is that he'll have to carry his own stuff, and also, it comes with a strap so we can keep him under control. Mwaah-ha-ha-ha-ha.

Your cake looks lush! What's in the filling and how did you manage to get your icing writing so neat?!
The backpack was Iain's idea! He's the evil genius not me.
Thanks for the cake compliments, Fi. The filling is strawberry jam. I used icing pens that come in a packet with a pen for each colour. I've used them a lot over the years so I guess I'm getting neater! No secret to it, just practise.
I think the backpack is ingenious - even if it's the work of an evil genius! I wondered where the "strap" was (the one to reign him back in)?

Jen - The strap is inside the backpack at the moment. As soon as Magnus can walk we will have photos of him with the strap (probably pulling against it!)
Ian - Iain hasn't been to a barber since before Xmas. He's either lazy or cultivating an Ian McCulloch look I suspect. Remember when he was a student? I think he's trying to look younger by having his hair messy.

Yeah, I'm trying to recapture my youth with an Ian McCulloch/Jim Reid/Robert Smith sort of do.
